Ratile Mabitsela, from South Africa to World! A raising Star!

I’m Ratile Mabitsela, 32 years old and I was bred in Tembisa, growing up was  quite an experience, my  home was filled with lots of love, my mom was my friend. I’d always get home from school to tell her all about my day and I’d just never keep quiet! My dad and brothers were my keepers, I was safely protected by 4 men , being an only girl child.

Outside my home, was playful. I enjoyed playing with my friends and most of my weekends were spent with my grandparents who were just a short taxi ride away from home then.  I also had the best memories with my cousins as I spent most of my school holidays in Seshego, Limpopo , my dad’s hometown, best times ever I tell you!

Latest project and what does it mean to you ?

The mommy club has been one of the bravest steps I’ve ever taken. From someone who lives in my little bubble to a reality TV star is a big deal. Growing up, I was very sheltered because I always felt the need to protect myself from the common issues that girls face growing up in the Township.

For instance, I was bullied, I was body shamed and I had to fight through a lot of emotions and most times physically to be myself. As a result, I became very guarded on who I let in. Being part of the show helped me conquer that as I was surrounded by other moms  and eventually I had to let my guard down. I have learnt that your pain will confront you whether are your ready or not and I had those moments on the the show.

Life journey

A lot of things that happen in my life have been things that I’ve imagined and wanted as a kid. I’ve always known it would happen, I just didn’t know the how’s and when’s.

As a teenager, I spent most of my life daydreaming, just imagining how life will turn out for me. At times I wasn’t sure what I even wanted to study, I moved from wanting to be an Engineer, I know my dad would love it but it wasn’t for me, to wanting to be a pshychologist and at some point a model , and at a time I felt like I just didn’t want to pursue tertiary studies because I wanted to get into media, that’s when my mom said “You’ll do Media after your degree”, I don’t regret it at all. Thank God for mothers! That’s all the direction I needed to at least make it.

I remember also being in Grade 3 and struggling to read the time, I used to love watches so much, I used to panic when anyone would ask me what time is was because I couldn’t tell, I thought I was gonna be a mom who can’t teach her kids how to read the time and it gave me so much anxiety😂😂😂

Otherwise I’m married to the smartest man ever, he would have to help me there. My family is my pillar, we’re blessed with 5 kids nothing feels as good as having a man who loves and treasures family as much as you do. The world is a stressful place on its own but I find peace in my family.

Work life and business have been very much like motherhood, where you just give birth and nurture, pray through it and leave the growth to God. My businesses are counted as part of my kids because the responsibility of keeping them going is nothing short of what I would give as support to my kids.

Youth Fountain

Learnt from it?

I have learnt that every stage in life is worth embracing. It’s not always prefect, flaws are a part of who we are and falling means you can get up again. The mind of the winner, is the mind that never gives up.

People expect from you on Mommy’s Club

The mommy club is Centered around showcasing the lifestyles of modern moms who run their households and take care of business. You’ll see me spending most of my time at my practice, Youth Fountain Infusions & Aesthetics , anti-aging is my passion. You will get to experience me being a mom and a homemaker in all my glory. I can’t say much without giving too much away about the show.

Mommy club different from pageants

The mommy club put me in a position to not only highlight my strengths but also my shortfalls in way. Whereas pageants are more of an empowerment platform, a reality TV show can either break you or make you.

At the end of the day, how one chooses to work around the idea of exposing their entire life to the public, is based on how they intend to use their platform. Pageants are rather more pre-planned and the expectation stays the same, the aim is to elevate, empower and make a difference. Pageants will always have my heart and I’ve learnt to embrace both.

How do you balance it all?

I allow myself do to what I can at the time, help at home goes a long way. We have 2 helpers who play a big support part in our busy lives. I’m blessed to have a husband who is hands on, at times he helps with school runs , if I’m not in a position to do groceries he can do it. It’s all the small things that count, it makes life manageable. He’s a traditional man with modern qualities, I love that about him. Grandparents also play a role in helping us raise our kids and lots of support from aunts and uncles also go a long way, it really takes a village to raise children.

On the business front, hands on is the best way to play it. It’s also important to have productive  and capable staff who are able to  keep up with work duties.  My husband is a well seasoned businessman, his business experience and knowledge has helped me in some of the business decisions that I have taken. The trials and triumphs has helped us learn a lot learn a lot from each other as we work toward a shared vision.

With Miss Tembisa, my former reigning Queens manage that baby like it’s their very own. I’m there to overlsee their work and it’s impressive what they do. They have also been of great support. Given being a wife, mom, businesswoman, friend, sister, aunt… it takes a healthy support structure to keep afloat and I appreciate mine.

What will you do with the platform that you have gained from the mommy club?

Being on Showmax means I can get to make a global impact.
